Overview
A free, family-friendly community event with fun, food, music, resources, and support for rural military & the people who stand beside them!
Operation Honor: Rural Salute NC
May 16th is going to be a good day in Sanford. And this one's for everyone.
Food trucks. Live music. Local vendors. Kids running around. And right alongside all of it, some of the most valuable resources a rural veteran or military family can access, brought directly into your community at no cost.
This event is for everyone and it was built with veterans in mind.
If you live here, love someone who served, or just believe your community deserves more than it's been given, you belong here. Bring your kids, your neighbors, your veteran, your spouse, your parents. Come hungry. Come curious. Come ready for a genuinely good day.
Operation Honor: Rural Salute is not a formal event. It's a community day that happens to have some of the most important veteran resources in North Carolina under one roof. And if you know a veteran who filed a claim years ago and never heard back, or who figured the system wasn't worth the fight, this is a good day to bring them out. Real people will be here with real answers, no runaround required.
What Kind of Day Is This?
Think small-town fair meets veteran resource hub.
It's loud in the best way. Kids running around. Food trucks. Live music. Local vendors. A Veteran Farmers Market. And woven right through all of it are real organizations, real people, and real answers to questions that have been sitting too long.
This is not a conference. It is not formal. You do not need to have your paperwork together to walk through the gate.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you want. Leave with more than you came with.
Doors open at 11AM. Event runs until 6PM.
What's On Site
Benefits and Claims Help The Veterans Benefits Administration will be on site for enrollment, claims assistance, and direct outreach. Veterans at past OHRS events have resolved benefits issues that had been open for 20 to 30 years, in a single afternoon. If something has been sitting unresolved, bring it.
Enrollment and Education Mental Health support organizations will be available on sire. Low-key, no pressure, no waiting rooms. Just real people who understand rural veteran life.
Family Activities Kids' activities, food trucks, live music, local vendors, and a Veteran Farmers Market. This is a full day out for the whole family, not. just the veteran.
USDA Resources USDA representatives will be on site with resources for rural veteran farmers, landowners, and agricultural program participants.

Who This Day is For
Veterans of every era and every branch. Military spouses, caregivers, and families. Rural neighbors who want to show up for their people. Kids who deserve a good Saturday
You don't have to be in crisis to come. You don't have to have a specific need. You just have to show up.
And if you know a veteran who wouldn't come on their one, bring them. That's half the reason this event exists.
