Who We Are
Nathan and Kristen Botts bring a powerful combination of military service, professional K9 expertise, and trauma-informed care to the Mission First K9 Program. Nathan, an Army combat veteran and Bronze Star recipient, is a Master K9 Trainer and Behaviorist with over a decade of experience in service, tactical, and search-and-rescue training. Kristen, a seasoned K9 handler and nonprofit leader, has trained dozens of veteran-K9 teams and brings deep experience in mental health, trauma support, and caregiving. Together, they are dedicated to strengthening the bond between Veterans and their K9 partners to improve emotional well-being and quality of life.
At Off-Road Outreach, we understand that many Veterans experience challenges transitioning to civilian life. The Mission First K9 Program connects Veterans and their K9 partners through structured training and peer support designed to strengthen emotional well-being and build lasting community.
What We Do
Mission First K9 exists to restore purpose, confidence, and connection for veterans and their K9 partners.
Through structured training, education, and supportive guidance, we empower veterans with the skills to navigate PTSD, TBI, and other service-related challenges while giving rescue dogs a safe path to a stable, meaningful home.
Guided by our mantra, “15 Seconds of Courage,” and grounded in our belief that “Your success is our success,” we strengthen the bond between veteran and dog, promote emotional wellness, and build a community committed to long-term healing and growth.
